Members of aphyllophorales are commonly known as pore fungi , bracket fungi , tooth fungi or coral fungi . Basidia are stichobasidia ( nuclear spindle is longitudinal ) . Polyporus is commonly known as bracket fungi . Polyporus occurs as saprophyte on dead wood logs or as a parasite causing serious damage to forest trees . Fruiting bodies basidiocarps are more or less flat , leathery or fan shaped . Basidiocarp is made up of 3 different types of hyphae . Sex organs are absent . Polyporus sulphureus is commonly known as sulpher mashroom .
