Psilophytales
Psilophytales are first land vascular plants . They belong  to Devonian period . They are called psilophytons due to their naked plant body .

Rhynia was discovered by Kidston and Lang in Rhynie locality of Aberdeenshire in Scotland . The name Rhynia has been derived from locality Rhynie . They belong to devonian period . Thier fossils were obtained in perfect petrified state . They grew near volcanoes in habitats saturated with acid water from hot springs . 

      Rhynia major was sporophytic . It had rhizome ( subterranean , creeping and dichotomously branched ) and shoot ( aerial , leafless ) . Axis of Rhynia had protostele . Rhizoids arised in tufts from rhizome . There were some adventitious branches on shoot . They probably helped in vegetative propagation since they had no vascular connection . Rhynia had sporangia on tips of aerial branches . Rhynia were homosporous . Spores had typical tri radiate markings . There were some hemispherical projections ( considered to be stomata ) on shoot .Pant suggested that at least some of the stomata were of archegonial nature . Rhynia gwynne-vaughani is considered as Gametophyte . 

Horneophyton ( leafless ) and asteroxylon ( with leaves ) were also found along with Rhynia .
